Hoopstar day

Well done to all of the children and staff for taking part in the recent Hoopstar Day! The children all put in 100% effort and showed off their skills. The Hoopstar staff praised the children on their excellent behaviour and we are very proud of you all.

We wanted to let you know that we have been notified of an increase in positive cases of Covid 19 in the Annfield Plain and South Moor areas.

We want to take the opportunity to reassure you that we are working closely with Durham County Council and are following their advice around the best way to keep all our staff and children safe.

As is part of our everyday routine already, we will be asking all children to wash their hands regularly and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of regular 20 second handwashing in the home, particularly when children leave for and arrive home from school. In addition to this, we would like to ask you to support us further by following social distancing guidance when dropping of and collecting your children for home. If you do not have a dedicated childcare bubble, please do not ask other parents to pick up or drop off your children.

If you or your child develops any of the following symptoms: a persistent cough, a temperature or you lose your sense of smell or taste then you should book a Coronavirus test immediately and certainly within the first five days of feeling unwell. You can do this at https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

If you need to self-isolate and are worried about managing at home, then the County Durham Together Community Hub is there to help you with practical support as well as advice about managing financially and ways to continue looking after your physical and mental health while in isolation, this includes information on educational and leisure activities for children, which you may find particularly useful. You can find out more details here: http://www.durham.gov.uk/covid19help

If you have any concerns relating to school, please contact (insert details for the relevant person from your organisation here).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support during these challenging times and to remind everyone that by following the hands, face, space preventative guidelines, getting tested if you have symptoms and staying at home if you’re asked to, we can all play our part in keeping all of our colleagues, friends and families safe.

SCHOOL IS CLOSED (Friday 8th January 2021)

24th February 2020 By louisemilbourne

Due to the heavy snowfall overnight school is closed to those who would have accessed the building today.

All roads in the surrounding area are barely passable and it is not considered safe to travel so for the safety of both children and staff this is the safest thing to do.

We apologise for any inconvenience to those who would have been attending school, but this is the safety thing to do.

Online learning for all is available via Teams and class dojo for everyone to access, however, if you have any queries please email us on p2233.admin@durhamlearning.net

SLP stars crowned for a second year

16th July 2019 By louisemilbourne

SLP Star Awards celebration is the greatest show

Last week we celebrated the second SLP Star Awards grand finale at the beautiful setting of South Causey Inn.  It was an unforgettable evening that saw our four schools come together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of some of our SLP children.

Teachers nominations opened in April with well into the hundreds being received. After a lot of deliberation, Headteachers selected winners and runners up who were announced in school assemblies in May.

This year’s Star Awards; hosted by our very own ringmaster, saw guests being entertained by a stilt walker, fire juggler, bubbleologist and acrobat at the celebration carnival.

The 2019 SLP Star Awards were extra special as we welcomed the children and families from Bloemfontein Primary School.  Having joined us in July 2018, this was the first time they participated in the initiative.

Holly, Bloemfontein Primary School’s Above & Beyond winner said,

“I had seen the Star Awards last year and they looked amazing so everyone at school was really excited when we found out they were happening again, and we were taking part.

To be nominated and win was really exciting but tonight has just been amazing.  I never expected it to be a real carnival with stilt walkers!  I’ve had the best night ever.”

Enrichment opportunities such as the SLP Star Awards could not happen without the support of local businesses and Stanley Town Council.  It is their financial contribution that allow us to make such projects so aspirational and engaging for all our children.

Cllr Les Timbey, Leader of Stanley Town Council said,

“Stanley Town Council are delighted to be able to be involved in the SLP Star Awards for a second year.

We know how hard all SLP children work, their determination and resilience is evident on a day to day basis.  This initiative allows their teachers to acknowledge their efforts and celebrate together.

SLP offers their children some unique and inspirational enrichment opportunities and we as a town council, are honored to support them.”

Whilst the grand finale celebrates our first-place winners, it is only fitting that we congratulate all SLP children.  Each and every one of them is a star in their own right and if we could have celebrated with everyone, we most certainly would have.   Well done for a fantastic year and we look forward to celebrating next year at the 2020 SLP Star Awards!

Roll up, roll up for the SLP Star Awards 2019!

8th May 2019 By louisemilbourne

The search for the SLP Stars is well underway.

We are absolutely delighted to confirm that following the success of 2018, the SLP Star Awards have returned to all Stanley Learning Partnership schools for 2019!

The SLP Star Awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate the amazing work of our children as a partnership.  Their work, commitment and dedication never fails so it seems only right we recognise and reward this.

This year is extra special as we welcome our Bloemfontein Primary School families into the initiative.  To be able to run this initiative across four schools is superb and a great incentive to offer our children.

All children are eligible for all categories irrespective of age or Key Stage.  Likewise, every school will have their own set of winners and runners up.  Every child has an equal chance of winning as it about their own personal growth and progress.

Nominations officially opened on Monday 1st April running until Friday 3rd May.  At this point Headteachers selected 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from their school from each category.  Local school assemblies will be held during week commencing 20th May to honour the hard work of winners and present them with their certificates.  More details to follow.

The 1st place winner of each category together with two guests, will then be invited to attend a VIP red-carpet evening at the South Causey Inn on Thursday 11th July.  This exclusive and aspirational black-tie event will be a celebration of all of our winners and will also see us crown our SLP Superstars of the Year from each school.

Stay posted on our school Facebook pages for regular updates as to how the initiative is progressing!

SLP Superstar Showcase – confirmed acts!

21st January 2019 By louisemilbourne

Auditions for our partnership wide talent search; SLP Superstars Showcase took place last week as children battled it out for their place in the live show.

Children from all Bloemfontein year groups showcased their talents for our panel of judges in our closed auditions last Thursday.  Singers, dancers and magicians were amongst the line up, each one of them really doing themselves proud.

Our panel of judges; Mrs Trewella,  Mrs Snailham and Chair of Governors; Mrs Henderson had a tough job selecting their final acts.  After  a lot of deliberation they eventually managed to whittle it down to seven who will now go on to join their peers from all other SLP schools in the SLP Superstars Showcase that takes place at the Civic Hall, Stanley on Friday 8th March.

Mrs Liddell, Bloemfontein’s Head teacher said;

“To say the children have been amazing throughout the audition process somehow doesn’t seem to be enough.  Each and every one of them is a superstar in their own right and they have amazed and entertained us with their many talents, some of which they had kept under wraps from us!

It was great to see children from both Key Stages participate and be completely undaunted by the whole experience.

Whilst our judges did have a tough job selecting our final acts I am confident that together with their peers from our other SLP schools, they will put on a phenomenal show for the whole community.  I can’t wait!”

All of the children that auditioned will star in a local school show that will celebrate everyone’s talents.

More information to follow as how to obtain tickets for both the local school show and the live show.

SLP Superstars Showcase

17th December 2018 By louisemilbourne

Stanley Learning Partnership have launched our new partnership wide talent search; SLP Superstars Showcase.

Children from all SLP schools are invited to participate in this brand new and exciting initiative designed to celebrate the foundation subjects and showcase their many talents.

SLP Superstar Showcase, run in partnership with Stanley Town Council, is a talent search that will see each school hold auditions and a panel of judges whittle down the acts selecting those that will star in a “live” show.

The SLP Superstars Showcase “live” show takes place on the evening of Friday 8th March 2019 at the Civic Hall, Stanley and whilst we do not know who will be participating, or what their act will be, we do know that it will be a star-studded extravaganza of talent, fun and entertainment.

Mark Stewart, CEO of Stanley Learning Partnership said;

“The SLP Superstar Showcase is a great addition to the SLP calendar of events and one that we are very excited about.  This is an opportunity for our children to show us their talents, try something new and for some, step outside of their comfort zone.  Some children excel outside of the classroom; this is the perfect platform for them to do just that.

As a fully inclusive partnership it was important to involve as many children as possible.  We fully appreciate what a big step it is for anyone to audition in front of a panel of judges which is why, so as not to disappoint those that don’t make it to “live” show, we will host school performances that everyone will participate in.

We cannot wait to see who will perform and what their act will be.  We are confident SLP Superstars Showcase will bring children and families together both within their school and across our partnership.  This is a really exciting time for our children and SLP as a whole.”

SLP Superstars Showcases opened for entry during w/c 3rd December 2018 with auditions being held in schools during w/c 14th January 2019.  Local school shows will be held during w/c 4th February 2019 and the “live” show on Friday 8th March 2019.  Tickets for the show will be available directly from the Civic Hall early 2019.

We hope you will join with us to support the SLP Superstars Showcase, irrespective of whether your child wants to join in or not.  Let’s create something great together that really puts SLP, our children and Stanley as a community, on the map!
